Documents Needed for Driving License Translation
Simple checklist of everything you need to prepare for your driving license translation.
What You Need to Get Started
The good news is that you don't need much! With MyLicense24, the entire process is simple and digital. Here's what you need:
1. Front and Back Photos of Your License
This is the most important requirement. You need clear, readable photos of both sides of your driving license.
- Front: Shows your name, date of birth, license number, issue date, expiry date, and photo.
- Back: Shows license classes, restrictions, and any additional information.
Tips for good photos:
- Take photos in good lighting (natural light works best)
- Avoid glare and shadows
- Make sure the text is clearly readable
- Use a solid background
- Hold the camera steady to avoid blur
2. Your Personal Details
You'll need to provide the following information when you order:
- Full name (exactly as it appears on your license)
- Date of birth
- Country of issue (UK, USA, Ireland, Australia, etc.)
- Email address (where we'll send your PDF)
3. Contact Information (Optional but Recommended)
- Phone number — in case we need to reach you quickly
- Physical address — if you want a physical copy mailed to you
What You DON'T Need to Send
Many people are surprised to learn that they do not need to send:
- Your original license — photos are sufficient
- Your passport — not required
- Proof of residence — not required for the translation
- Any notarized documents — not required for translation

Common Questions About Documentation
What if my license is damaged or worn?
If some text is hard to read, try taking the photo under different lighting. If it's still unclear, let us know — we may ask you to type out the information manually.
Do I need to translate my license myself first?
No. We will do the professional translation for you. You just need to send the photos.
What file format should I use for photos?
We accept JPG, PNG, PDF, and HEIC formats. The most common and reliable format is JPG.
How many photos should I upload?
At least 2 photos (front and back). If you want to be extra safe, you can upload multiple photos of each side with different angles or lighting.
What if my license is from a country that uses a different format?
No problem — we translate licenses from all English-speaking countries. Just send us clear photos and we'll handle it.
